Morro Bay
20 minutes away, Morro Bay is known for striking Morro Rock, which is host to many sea birds. The estuary provides a unique opportunity to view sea otters and sea lions, while the town is known for its excellent seafood. We also recommend the state park boardwalk for excellent birding.
Hearst Castle
Less than an hour away is the Hearst family estate, designed by Julia Morgan. With grand grounds, pools, architecture, and an extensive art collection, this is a bucket list tour.
Estero Bluffs State Park
30 minutes away from the Madonna, excellent hiking provides views of bluffs, sea stacks, and the famous Point Estero Shipwreck.
Wineries
San Luis Obispo's climate allows for world-class wineries, which are clustered just 10-15 minutes south of downtown in Edna Valley.
Road Trip!
Big Sur
We recommend making a trip of it! Between San Francisco and San Luis Obispo lies Big Sur, arguably the most striking coastal drive in the country. Redwood trees meet a rugged coast that plunges directly into the ocean.
See elephant seals and whales, drive across the famous Bixby Bridge, and hike to 80-foot McWay Falls, which plunges directly to the beach.
